East Pune, without a life lived in traffic
Meera Joshi

Wagholi is where a lot of us landed because Kharadi filled up. The mistake is treating that as a waiting room for a ‘real’ neighbourhood. I wanted the weekday to finish at the building, not in a car.
The crèche, the grocer and the trail are why we signed. The third room is my mother’s when she visits, not a dumping ground for cartons. Kharadi is eighteen minutes when I need it. Most days I do not.
I am not waiting for the city to come to us. The errands already live downstairs.
